With our microfinance partner Grameen America, I had the pleasure of meeting Charlotte-based microcredit clients at an event called a Borrower’s Market. Many of the recipients of Whole Planet Foundation funds were enthusiastic to learn that their loan was funded by Whole Foods Market and the support of employees (we call ourselves team members), supplier partners, and shoppers. The Whole Foods Market Charlotte store team members were excited to learn how their efforts are alleviating poverty in their own city.
