Grameen in the UK began in Scotland in 2014 with support from local TESCO Bank, the Glasgow Caledonian University and the Scottish government. The microfinance institution provides microcredit to those in the hardest to reach communities and groups to start or grow existing small businesses. Initially, the Grameen in the UK is supporting communites within Glasgow, with plans to move out to North Ayrshire, Dundee, West Dunbartonshire and Inverclyde regions.
