I am a real estate agent with Coldwell Banker in Austin. I am a graduate of Harvard University and hold a Masters in Public Affairs from the University of Texas LBJ School of Public Affairs. From 1990 to 1993, I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala, helping communities in Central America develop technologies to improve their quality of life. During this time, I was able to see microlending and its profound benefits in the context of a developing country. I'm riding because microlending is an important program that can significantly impact the developing world. I look forward to helping raise awareness about its benefits. Thank you for donating to the Whole Planet Foundation in my name.

I live in Austin, Texas with my two boys and husband. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with adults, teens and children. My interests include hiking, organic gardening and cooking. I am self employed, which enables me to carve out my own niche and lifestyle, and support my family. As an entrepreneur, I would like to help others follow their dreams, and support those in need. Living in a land of plenty, I believe I should share the wealth. Thank you for donating to the Whole Planet Foundation in my name.

I'm a senior at the University of Texas focusing on environmental geology/hydrogeology with a double major in anthropology, and love the great outdoors. I am mainly a distance runner (ran for UT), but have recently been dabbling with triathlons, and really enjoy the cycling component of them. Cycling is definitely a passion of mine, and is a great way to reduce my carbon footprint. I think this ride will be a great way to create awareness about pressing global environmental issues in our local community. Thank you for donating to the Whole Planet Foundation in my name.

I am the Vice President of Students for Environmental Outreach and I am extremely ecstatic about participating in 24 Hours to Empower. In this world of billions and billions of people, I am only one. One that is completely and utterly grateful for what life has offered me. And to even have the opportunity to give back in such a tremendous way is a gift in itself. It's hard to hear about the poverty-stricken world, but what's even harder is living in it. I feel most privileged to have obtained the knowledge, will and means to empower people in this world who struggle the most. There is only one world, and we're all living in it. Thank you for donating to the Whole Planet Foundation in my name.

My name is Ray and I'm on staff here at ACC/RGC and take classes as well. I am riding due to an awareness after taking a great class in Environmental Science with Professor Cunningham. The decision to ride was based on my belief that the Grameen Bank has an economic global vision that is very humanitarian. I urge all ACC students to support us in this momentous event! Thank you for donating to the Whole Planet Foundation in my name.

Bridget Carter is a student at ACC and the Treasurer in Students for Environmental Outreach. Bridget is riding between 7pm and 11pm with ride captain Elysia Morrison. Thank you for donating to the Whole Planet Foundation in Bridget Carter's name.

I am riding my bike to fight poverty because I am fortunate enough live in a country where I can afford time and money to do just such a thing. Many people around the world are too sick and tied down by the struggle to survive every single day just because they are poor and uneducated, and so they can not enjoy the pleasures of such things as a casual bike ride on a nice day. Through the 24-Hours to Empower program, and programs like this that empower people to make their own living, we all can improve the conditions for them because they deserve to enjoy a happy life just as much as you and I. Thank you for donating to the Whole Planet Foundation in my name.

I'm Faculty Advisor for the ACC Students for Environmental Outreach club. I'm very excited about our 24-Hour ride later this month. Through this event my students and others are learning what it's like to be a part of a team that will make a positive change in the world. It's a great feeling to see what we are able to accomplish. Thank you for donating to this very worthwhile cause in my name.

I am the husband of Faculty Advisor Amy Cunningham, Dad to the two Best Sons Ever and Ride Director for this event. I'm also Community Relations Director at FOX 7. I'm organizing and participating in this event because it makes me happy to experience life through giving and riding with a team. With even a small donation and the power of our rider and volunteer team, you can help. Our team goal will help empower the poor to escape the consequences of poverty and improve their family health and well-being. Thank you for donating to the Whole Planet Foundation in my name.

Robert Daley is a currently a History major at ACC who enjoys skateboarding and golf. He is an avid gardener and regularly volunteers his time to community projects. Hello! I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Social Work. Upon graduation, I will be applying to the Peace Corps in hopes of working in Africa or India. Ultimately, I would like to be involved in advocacy work abroad, with my primary focus being education. I am committed to benefiting humanity by helping people further themselves through academic and economic means. Thank you for donating to the Whole Planet Foundation in my name.

I'm an Environmental Science student and the founder and President of Students for Environmental Outreach at Austin Community College. I helped create this charity bike ride because I've been enlightened regarding the tragedies and disgrace associated with absolute poverty. I'm riding because I believe every mother should be empowered to create a better life for herself and her children and hold her head up knowing her children are clean, clothed and fed. I believe in the Whole Planet Foundation and the power of microlending. This ride is only 24 hours but the donations are changing these people's lives forever. Thank you for donating to the Whole Planet Foundation in my name.

I am deeply concerned with the global spread of poverty. Until I learned about microlending, I didn't think there was much good individuals in the west could do. I was excited when I heard that microlending was successfully being employed to allow people to better their lives by making their businesses more profitable and give their families greater access to education. By participating on this ride I will raise money for the Whole Planet Foundation and educate the public about microlending. Thank you for donating to the Whole Planet Foundation in my name.

As opportunities go, this one was a no-brainer; I get to ride my bike and hang out with other ACC students as well as contribute to a good cause. I have been riding bikes since I as about two years old—that makes over twenty three years worth of riding experience. As well as being a rider, I am also a bike mechanic. Pretty much anything that gets me around bikes 'turns my crank'. I am an avid cyclist and community member. Thank you for donating to the Whole Planet Foundation in my name.

I am an entrepreneurship major at St. Edward's University. I am in the final stretch with finishing my degree. My ultimate dream is to start my own microlending organization after working for an organization like Whole Planet Foundation for a few years. My best friend describes me as goofy. My other best friend describes me as generous, open-minded, comfortable, and playful. I prefer the second description, but admit that the first fits. I am riding because I believe that all of humanity has the potential to live happy and productive lives, but that as Muhammad Yunus says, society is the pot that restrains the Bonsai tree from growing tall. By raising money for the Whole Planet Foundation, we are allowing others to fulfill their potential and contribute to the world. Thank you for donating to the Whole Planet Foundation in my name.

I am a professor at Austin Community College and the chair of the Environmental Science and Technology Department. I do research in marine paleoecology via submersibles and SCUBA (mostly in the summers); I am a pilot (airplanes and helicopters). I am participating in the ride because it is a way to address the problem of world poverty which directly and negatively impacts the environment. Thank you for donating to the Whole Planet Foundation in my name.
