New York City Whole Foods Market stores held a 5% Community Giving Day on June 25th, 2009, benefitting Grameen America, in support of local microlending programs. Whole Planet Foundation's partnership with Grameen America began in 2008 with a $50,000 grant to fund microcredit in Jackson Heights in Queens New York.
