What is it like to live in extreme poverty? Could you budget only one dollar a day to survive?
In 2010, four US college students set out to discover firsthand how 1.1 billion people around the world live on only one dollar a day. Armed simply with the belief that understanding the reality of extreme poverty is the first step in addressing the problem, they spent two months living on just one dollar a day in rural Guatemala.
The full-length documentary, Into Poverty: Living on One Dollar, brings you on an intense journey as these four friends battle E.Coli, financial stress, and the realization that there are no easy answers. Yet, they find a resilient hope in the inspiring lives of their neighbors and friends.
This September, their journey continues. Having just graduated from college, Zach, Chris, Sean, and Hannah are committed to sharing their experience with high school and university students around the country. They have four months, a 1978 school bus, and a radical plan to engage hundreds of thousands of students in the fight to end extreme poverty through their Living on One Film Tour.
Join Whole Planet Foundation, Whole Foods Market, and Living on One on September 8th for an exclusive viewing of Into Poverty followed by an interactive discussion with founders and young filmmakers, Zach and Chris. Support the launch of the Living on One Film Tour as these four friends set off on a new journey, inspiring young people across America to take this one chance to change the course of poverty in their generation! Admission is free and open to the public. Film is appropriate for all ages.
