Each year, Whole Foods Market shoppers have the opportunity to donate $2, $5, and $10 at registers in participating stores. This year, customers and team members donated over $1 million to directly help over 7,000 individuals through microlending programs supported by Whole Planet Foundation. Since each head of household in the developing world typically supports five individuals, this will indirectly support 35,000 individuals in the developing world; giving them a chance to lift themselves and their family members out of poverty. Team Members enjoyed partnering with shoppers to change people’s lives. Team Member Mike Beard of the Old Town, Alexandria, Virginia store collected $5,992 at his register!
