Involving Team Members in the mission of the Whole Planet Foundation is an opportunity to live out the core purpose of the company, extending love and compassion to the whole world. Team Members are contributing to this mission by educating other team members, our customers and others about global poverty, raising funds for the mission or volunteering in the Whole Foods Market Team Member Volunteer Program.

Renae Prieto is inspired and inspiring and makes the Regency Store a great place to be. She has carried the message of Whole Planet Foundation and of Whole Foods Market as a mission driven company to her store, to her region, and beyond. Her pursuit of excellence in education and wonderful sense of humor are a great combination that is guaranteed to bring out the best in all of us. Houray Renae!

Imagine an all-store meeting where everyone is engaged and happy despite the late hour and you will know why the Monterey store was number one in the Prosperity Campaign in the Northern California Region. Customer Service Team Members Erika Andrews-Montez and Heather Milligan are the “Prosperity Powerhouse” having raised over $1000 and $2621 respectively. Thank you ladies! And a big thanks to Store Team Leader Kelli Takikawa for empowering her team members to empower people around the world.

David Swensen is a front end team member from the Regency store in Omaha who raised $1751 for Whole Planet Foundation during the Prosperity Campaign. He has this to say about why he came up with great talking points and talked to every customer from the heart. Working with Whole Planet reminds me of my not-for-profit days and of the positive economic and social impact a simple program like micro-lending can have; I want to be a part of that! What I didn't know before I began fundraising for Whole Planet Foundation was that it would be a vehicle to success for me professionally. I didn't necessarily intend for this to happen (I obviously want to do my best), but I ended up really standing out and being recognized for my work here in my store, in the region, and in the company. That feels good. That makes me feel happy. It's nice to think and feel like I'm making a difference, and its nice when other people affirm that, too. Next year I hope to raise more than I raised last year--at least $2000.”
“I am passionate about Whole Planet Foundation for several reasons. Prior to my employment at Whole Foods, I worked in the not-for-profit sector in an HIV/AIDS Service organization, and later for the American Red Cross. I am passionate about the global HIV/AIDS health crisis, and I have become aware that there is a connection between social injustice and poor health in general and increased HIV infection rates in particular. While there is no cure for HIV/AIDS, a large part of the solution lies in social justice. As poverty is eradicated, when there is enough food to eat and clean, safe water to drink, when people, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, or race are treated with dignity and are given equal rights here and in the developing world, HIV infection rates tend to plateau or even decrease slightly.

Store Team Leader Cyn Leo and her team members Carl Johnson, Sue D’Arrigo, Edgar Mejia, Oscar Hernandez welcomed Joy Peterson, Internal Programs Coordinator, to Mill Valley as part of a 17 store awareness raising tour for Whole Planet Foundation in the Northern California Region. What a beautiful store and what great team members! Thank you all!
