With her first GHAPE loan of just 50,000 XAF (about $85 USD) repayable over 12 months, Grace stocks a small drinks and provisions stand in Cameroon. She once borrowed from a credit union but found the terms too difficult to be sustainable- she paid the same interest as she does now to GHAPE but for only a 5 month loan rather than a 12 month loan GHAPE offers! If she can invest more in her store with subsequent loans from GHAPE, she hopes to add electricity to enable her to stay open to her customers in the evenings. She said she makes about 10,000 XAF (about $17) each week in profit after expenses since taking the GHAPE loan for her store.
