Hello again from Bogota! I think I’ve officially reached the half way point in my trip which makes me both happy and sad. I’m very happy to have experienced a ton of wonderful things up to this point, but am sad that it’s already half over. I don’t know how I’ll be feeling in two months, but I don’t think I’ll be ready to come back!
I was lucky enough to have my time here coincide with Whole Planet Foundation’s Latin American Project Manger’s, Evan, trip. With him being stationed in Costa Rica and me in Austin, it’s not often that we get to work together. We spent a few days visiting the different offices in Bogota, meeting, interviewing and photographing clients. I wanted to introduce you all to a few of them.
Yolanda is a client of Grameen Aval Colombia in Bogota and she used her loan to expand the inventory in her Beauty Shop.
Jeanette has a hair salon, and with her loan she has repainted it, bought new chairs and a new sign. She says the renovations have brought her more clients and her dream is to expand to the second floor in order to support more guest.
Estfania has the only gift shop in the neighborhood (conveniently located next to a bunch of schools) and used the loan from Grameen to expand her inventory and buy new display cases and shelving.
All of these photos (plus more!) can be found on Instagram: @wholeplanet
That’s all for now. Salud!
